Well, What is Cupping?

Cupping is a form of conservative therapy that uses either plastic or glass cups to create pressure or suction between yourself and the cup. These cups can be placed on many different areas of the body, including the back, shoulders, legs, and more. The suction of the cups generate a negative pressure allowing it to aid in myofascial decompression. This is seen when the skin is draw towards the cup, increasing blood flow to tissues.

This technique can help reduce pain, inflammation, muscle tightness, improve blood flow (circulation) and increase your bodies mobility and flexibility.

Are there any negatives?

There are only some risks with cupping therapy which include red hickey-like bruises on your skin where the cups where placed. This is commonly known as the "cupping marks" post treatment. This is very common side affect from treatment. Some other risks include worsen eczema or psoriasis after cupping therapy. If you suffer from either of these, mention it prior to your consultation.

Is cupping a new therapy?

Cupping is far from new and has been around for thousands of years. It is one of the oldest treatment interventions dating back to 1500B.C in some Egyptian, Chinese and Middle Eastern Cultures.

Some things have changed since then in the method and therapies of cupping therapy, but it is far from new.
